Índice de productividad total de los factores del sector agrícola Mexicano

Abstract

El crecimiento de la productividad es un indicador clave para una economía. La productividad total de los factores (PTF) es una proporción del total de los productos respecto al total de los factores de la producción. Aquí se utiliza el método de números índice para medir la PTF en el sector agropecuario. En las últimas dos décadas ha habido cambios importantes en la economía mexicana (por ejemplo: la apertura comercial, la modificación del Artículo 27 Constitucional, entre otras) que afectan directamente las condiciones de la producción agrícola del país y por ende afectan también el comportamiento de la productividad de los cultivos. El objetivo principal de la presente investigación es medir el índice de PTF del sector agrícola mexicano, empleando un índice exacto y superlativo de cantidad (ó índice verdadero), con el fin de conocer su tendencia actual ante las condiciones adversas del sector. El crecimiento promedio anual de la PTF fue de 0.02%. El índice de precios total de la agricultura mostró un crecimiento medio anual de -2.72%. En los índices de PTF por grupos de productos agrícolas se observa que las frutas y hortalizas presentan un crecimiento positivo, mientras que los básicos y otros productos presentan un decremento. El índice de precios total por grupo de productos muestra un decremento en todos los casos.________Productivity growth is a key indicator for an economy. The total factor productivity (TFP) is a ratio of total outputs to total inputs. The numbers index method was used to measure the TFP in the agriculture. In the last two decades there have been major changes in the Mexican economy (e.g. the trade openness, the Constitutional amendment of Article 27, among others) that directly affect the conditions of the country's agricultural production and therefore also affect the behavior of the crop productivity. The main objective of this research is to measure the TFP using an exact and superlative quantity index (or true index) to know their current tendency facing adverse conditions in the sector. The average annual increase of TFP was 0.02%. The total price index of agriculture showed an average annual growth rate of -2.72%. In the indexes of TFP by groups of agricultural outputs, fruit and vegetables have a positive growth, while the commodities and other products show a decrease. The total price index by groups shows a decrease in all cases.
